Beautiful Drawings :)

This week was Prestyn's first week at school and these are his first two pictures that he did and brought home. I love them and I love how much he loves to color when we get home before we can put them on the fridge he has to finish coloring them. He gets so serious about it and does not like to switch colors. Since he eats crayons I have only been giving him the colored pencils, but since he discovered pens those lately are his favorite choices. I have been thinking about getting the markers and pints that only color on that special paper I really think he would love to use those.

This is how cold it is!!

When I opened Prestyn's curtains this morning this is what I found! Yes that is ice formed on the inside of the window. I now know how Dana and Jared feel to a point I guess since our weather had only dropped to -5 and not any lower thank goodness. I did though almost end up locked out of the house though since when I got home and went to go unlock the side door the key hole was frozen over. Thankfully the front door under the porch was not other wise I would have been going to the store to buy a cordless hair dryer :) My favorite during this whole storm has been the comments that they have made on the news, last night in particular they said "It is colder in Texas than in Alaska". Just what you want to hear right!

Prestyn had his first day at school (Mothers Day Out) and I was full of anxiety and fear that he would not do well 1 with me leaving which did cause some tears and 2 refusing to take a nap since he has never taken one outside of his crib. Although I was afraid and expecting the worse it went AWESOME!!! so great in fact that he did not want to come home and could have cared less that I was back :) There were some tears after I dropped him off and and a few while they changed stations (music, play bouncer) but, after being distracted was just fine. He ate great and even took a nap without a bottle which is huge his teacher said he was so excited to sleep on his nap mat. I am so relieved day 1 went great and I had a great day hanging out with Danielle and going to lunch, now I cant wait for Wednesday to come since I know he he loves going and does so well!!

Getting ready for school

Never though I would be shopping for Prestyn and getting him supplies for school this early, but I am desperate for him to have somewhere to go during the week and he needs to learn some Independence since he wont even stay in nursery 10 min before there bringing him back to me. I did find this very cute nap mat for him during nap times amongst many other things. It really does take a lot of preparation to get him everything he will need for the 2 days a week he will be going. I not to sure who will be more excited me or him I think its a toss up!

Family Day

So yesterday we went to the zoo in Tyler. It was so fun Prestyn loved looking at all the different animals and maybe even more running around. We love this zoo because its not huge and busy, but all the animals are up close it almost gives you the sense your in their habitat. We had lunch at the food court and right next to your tables are the giraffes, elephants, and zebras it is so cool you can buy food and feed the giraffes in the deck right next to the food court. We did have a little guest for lunch though, this cute black squirrel was far from afraid he came and took a french fry right out of your hand and came back for more until Prestyn scared it off finally. The White Tigers were our favorite they are so beautiful and massive. shortly after taking the picture of the female in the tree the guy next to me was taking a picture on his phone and she claimed down and jumped on the glass like she was going to attack him. Scared both of us quit a bit, but it is so crazy how quick and how much force they have. Gave us even more of an example how big they are she made us look like dwarfs when she was against that glass. My favorite part of the zoo is the bird area where you can feed them and all the birds are flying around and climbing on you to get the food. After that we went to the gift shop and then to the mall to get Prestyn some more pants was such a great day we don't do enough activities like this and I am going to make an effort to have more of them especially now that Prestyn is getting older and can enjoy them as well.

Cabinet man :)

Prestyn loves turning off lights or finding a dark room and closing the door lately. So when he discovered that he can do the same thing in the cabinet's he will not leave it alone. This is now a daily activity for him and he thinks is funny. He loves playing peek-a-boo so every once in awhile when I'm in the kitchen you'll here a BOO coming from the cabinet and a little giggle.

First snow of the year 2011

We just got our first snow 2 days ago so Kevin and I could not wait to get Prestyn dressed and out side to see his reaction. He did very good he loved the sound of the snow crunching under neath his boots, but we noticed that he would not touch the snow so when he fell down and finally felt it he did not like it one bit. He did great as long as his hands never had to touch it. He had gloves on and everything, but it did not make a difference. Of course the gloves did not stay on too long before he used his teeth to pull them off of him. The pic of Kevin with the lawn mower looks like he is mowing when in fact hes just moving it :) I managed to make a pretty good snow man this year while Kevin and I were out side attempting to finish the electric fence for the dogs. Let me tell you trying to handle fencing and dig a 80 foot trench to lay pipe for wire in the snow at 20 degrees is no fun and to think just 2 days before the weather was 50 degrees and beautiful.

I know this is premature, but I am hoping he catches on soon would love to not buy diapers! He loves sitting on it naked or clothed, but either way it is exciting to him this particular day he decided after wards was a good as any time to go riding on his 4 wheeler. he is suck a goof ball some times!

Let the fun begin

So since my camera is MIA I though I would share an update on whats been happening lately.
Usually Thursday is my favorite day of the week because we have play group and I get a chance to get out of the house and speak with actual adults while allowing Prestyn to play but because of the holidays the last 2 weeks I have been going crazy without it. Against my better judgement I decided to try taking Prestyn to the library for story time (even though he wont sit still for 1 page of a story book) I was hopeful that a different atmosphere would some how change that! WRONG although he was not horrible he refused to sit down and wanted to play on the chairs until he saw the library lady put out supplies for an New Years craft....this is where it all went wrong. Knowing that a 16 month old who insist that he should touch and get into everything saw the cups filled with confetti on the table and wanted it something fears. I tried to distract his attention with other things, but of course my attempts failed. By the time I was fed up and on my way out i had my hands full while holding one of his hands to leave while he decided to throw a screaming tantrum the whole way across the library while throwing him self on the floor repeatedly. Once he saw the doors he became happy again waving and telling everyone bye until I stopped him from going the wrong direction and the screaming and throwing him self to the floor again begun. I was so angry and reached my limit with his little fits that once I got between my car and another I spanked his butt before putting him in his seat while yelling at him for acting the way he did. My morning had only begun at this point after getting home and having him start all over again I decided to try time outs since he was too small before to grasp the concept. After warning him once and being ignored I walked him to his room and sat him on the floor this clearly was not going to work after having to place him back down several more times. So since he would not stay down I placed him in his crib and closed the door behind me while I walked out of the room. Of course the noise that echoed from his room were screams they slowly stoped after a minute or so. After walking back in to the room to only have him greeting me at the corner of his crib I asked him if he was done and ready to be nice only to be responded to with a head nod and a "yeah". You would have thought that I tried to kill him he gave me a kiss and a hug and would not let go after I placed him back onto the floor he broke down again sobbing like I have not heard in a long time since any other punishment is usually followed with a smile or giggle. He sadly walked himself into the hall still sobbing layed on the floor and buried his head and remained there for over 30 min until he finally decided he was ok and went outside to play. I thought his reaction to time out was quite funny, but relieved that finally something got my point across. I tried it again yesterday and it helped without the drama scene after, I am hopeful that maybe we can help correct his little fits to were they are few and far in between since I know I can not take it any more. Its funny how being placed in a room away from everything and everyone is more effective than spanking or taking things away......who knew :)

15 month update

Today we went for Prestyns 15 month check up he is 27.06 lbs and 32 1/2 in long they say he is in the 80th percentile for his age. he now has all 4 of his molars and now his 2 bottom k-9's this will make 14 in all. I have noticed many changes in Prestyn lately not only has he become more demanding and discovering new things to climb on like the coffee table, but he is finding ways to get me to do what he wants like saying "food" when hes hungry or handing me his sippy and walking to the fridge when he wants a drink amongst a few others. His vocabulary has improved with new words "uh oh"," food", "boo", and "wow". These still remain to be the most used and favorite "yeah", "yay", "bye" he is growing so fast I cant believe the amount of change since last December sometimes i wish he was still my tiny baby and then thankful he's not. He does new things all the time he loves to ignore me for one but lately he has become quite the little butt, for instance today he was in his room watching his favorite show Yo Gabba Gabba and I walked in to tell him we were going bye bye and shut off the TV to then have only ignore me and reach over to turn it back on then turn back around to face me with a big smile on his face and clap saying "yay". I wanted to laugh, but was afraid he would think it was ok to do that he is such a terd if i could only get mad at him or punish him now with out him just giggling or laughing at me and then we will maybe have a day of where me punishing him successful. Its hard to not just laugh at him, but i have noticed his little tantrums getting worse when he does not get his way like throwing himself to the floor or screaming at the to of his lungs. I can not wait till Christmas morning though and see how he reacts to all the presents hopefully he will open them unlike his birthday where he just watched his dad do it for him. We are so blessed to have him in our family he brings such a fun and goofy personality into our lives he is always making Kevin and I laugh in the things he does. I cant imagine not having him here with us!

Playgroup Christmas Party

Today we had our play group Christmas party everyone brought there favorite breakfast dish and then we decorated ice cream cones and Graham cracker houses. Since Prestyn would just crush the house as i was building it we did the tree. As expected he only was interested in stuffing his mouth full of candy. He could care less about anything else going on, thanks to the other kids placing sprinkles in his grip he filled his mouth with that too! Sometimes I am so grateful for Thursday to come around some weeks its my break and sometimes sanity from the daily kayos that my days can become. Its the small things like this that make my weeks better and the excitement as Christmas approaches.
